It's not that I haven't been in the studio working. But, what I was working on did not work out. It's embarrassing to mention that I experienced one of those "Senior Moments" when I was planning my piece.

Now, I've had three honkers of CZ's (12 mm in size) for several years and haven't used them yet. (10 mm ones yes, but not the 12 mm.) Her project looked like a good use for them so I went ahead (without any instructions) and tried to make one. That was my first mistake. The second mistake was thinking I could just go out and buy mini bolts and nuts. (Nada on that one.)
So now I have three pieces of silver, two with holes in them (that are too small) sitting on my workbench. Things are looking up though as I've ordered the nuts and bolts and can adjust the holes (but not without work.)
I'm also almost done with a piece I started in Linda Kline's bezel setting class at the 2009 PMC Conference at Perdue. (Hey, better late than never.) Will share a picture of this piece Thursday night as it should be done by then.
Also, bring on the hot weather. My studio now has air conditioning. (Sure needed it last summer...... hope this summer is hot too.)

Ah, yes, the conundrum:
- rings get predictably smaller, but
- cracks get somewhat predictably bigger, and
- exactly what little holes do depends on the clay around them!
Still, round bolt-holes that are too small can be fixed with a drill. 'Could be worse...
Sr. moments... ugh! I have way too many of them. Maybe A/C will help! I just got it in my house/studio, too. The last two summers were unbearable.
You are right Zoe, the Sr moments come way too often.
Carol, the too small holes are where the CZ peeks through. If they were the bolt holes that would be a piece of cake. I have yet to drill the bolt holes but I do have the micro nuts and bolts now.
Oh. Yes. That is a bit trickier! But still easier to fix than had they ended up too big!
As in, be thankful for small favors...though I'm guessing they aren't enough smaller that you could just use 10 mm CZ for now, and call this one a "practice piece" before making another to fit your size 12?
On another note: In anticipation of my first summer in my current studio, and with forecasts of 90+ degrees for Sunday and Monday, I just put an AC unit in there on Saturday. The outlet by the windows is on a special circuit intended for that purpose. But, being a dedicated circuit...it's also where I've had my kiln. So at any point in time, I can run either the kiln or the AC. Thus, I'm trying to prepare for a hot summer, but still hoping for one that is merely pleasantly warm, one where I run the AC on occasion but mostly have it off and the other three windows wide open....
