Double the fun

Today, my other cousin's grandsons came to the studio to make their Mom a Valentine's present. (I don't think they're going to wait until then!)

Once again it was a fun time. I really do enjoy seeing my students succeed. They did their own cutting, filing, sanding and drilling. Everything went smoothly.

I allowed Nate, the older of the two to do his own torch firing. I wasn't really worried, but the fire extinguisher was nearby.

And, since we forgot to sign our work before firing I pulled out the engraver to sign the back. (What a noisy tool!) It was nice to see big brother Nate helping little brother Matty.

They should make their Mom proud!

Tagged

I'm an old dog, but I am slowly learning new tricks like this blogging stuff.   Today I got tagged by Nikki Pollard from  http://lunidesigns.blogspot.com.   I went to Nikki's site and checked out her jewelry.  Now I have something new to learn, as I loved the slide show presentation of her work.  I want to learn how to do that.

Anyway,  tagging is an internet game and here are the rules:
1.  Link to your tagger and list these rules on your blog.
2.  Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird.
3.  Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blog.  (Wonder how Nikki gave just the names that linked to the blog?  So much to learn!)
4.  Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

     Okay..... here goes.
1.  I use to have red hair, but now I am a blonde to cover up the gray.
2.  I'm not noted for my housekeeping.  Don't know what I am noted for, but definitely not for my housekeeping.
3.  If popcorn was the only food in the world, I would have no trouble surviving.  (Of course I could live off body fat for awhile.)
4.  I love being a grandma.
5.  Scrabble is my favorite game
6.  I began dating my husband when I was 12.  And, my mother never thought it would last.
7.  I could be a perpetual student.  I love taking classes

Now the hard part is finding 7 bloggers to tag.  I don't know of that many blogs, but I'll give it a try.  I'll add those to this post later.

Luck is in the eye of the beholder

Yesterday I posted that we weren't lucky at winning things but I said that we are lucky in other ways.

Today proved to us that we are indeed lucky.    As we were traveling home from our visit in NC, my husband fell asleep at the wheel.  Before we knew it, we were air born across the median strip and sliding into the opposing traffic's lanes.  With all that could have happened, we were not hurt.  No one in our two lanes hit us.  No one in the opposing two lanes hit us either, even though we sat in the middle of the road for several seconds.  With all the holiday traffic heading home the outcome could have been different.   God was indeed looking down on us.

We had our oldest grandson with us and he was scared.  Thank God we all had our seat belts on. We didn't hit anything, so the body of the car is fine.  We did a lot of bouncing so something happened that caused the car to quit working.  Now we are sitting in a hotel in Summersville, WV until tomorrow.  Hopefully it won't take much to get the car running again.

Three different cars stopped to help and make sure we were okay.  One family even let our grandson sit in their car to stay warm.  All three cars stayed with us until they were sure we were okay and the emergency vehicle arrived.

We had Christmas presents hidden in the back of the Expedition and some of them landed in the seat beside my Grandson.  He wondered where the play dough came from.  We also bought one of those realistic kitties for my Granddaughter and it would meow every so often.  The car repair shop will probably think we have a cat in there.  I should have warned them about it.  It was still meowing when the car got towed away,

Anyway, I'm writing a retraction to yesterday's post.  I am indeed lucky........ very lucky.  (And surprisingly our grandson wants to ride with us tomorrow.  But, he wants Grandma to drive.)

How to tell you're getting old

My hubby had an eye appointment today as a follow up to an appointment he had five months ago.  He had a cataract that was being watched and even before today's appointment he had decided to have it removed.  Now, in my opinion, cataracts are something that old people develop.  Maybe that's not true, but that is how I see it.  The doctor agreed that yes it should be done, so he has surgery scheduled for Nov. 4th.   This post is not really about the cataract as a sign of aging though.

While he was in the doctor's chair, the assistant called him "honey" twice.  When people you don't know start to call you honey, dear or sweetie, you're old.

It gets even worse, the older you get.  They start hugging you.  (That happens to my Dad a lot!)

Stay away from me and don't call me anything!
